The Guadalmina North Course was desgned in 1977 by Mr. Folco Nardi, an Italian Cavalry Colonel, who worked as a foreman and GreenKeeper with Norberto Goizueta owner of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina. During his professional life Mr. Folco Nardi also designed other courses like Santa Ponça I and II in Mallorca, Miraflores, and the 27 holes of Lauro Golf on the Costa del Sol.

The design of the North course was influenced by the land that flanks its fairways, which are wider than those of its brother “El Sur”. It is a “parkland” design with fairly flat greens that are not overly protected by bunkers. The design was also influenced by the “Arroyo del Chopo” stream which runs through the land and affects holes 8, 12, 16, 17 and 18.
It is a course where players have the chance to recover from a bad tee shot, as most of its holes are not very long. In fact the par four’s range between 300 and 350 metres, and the approach shots to the greens are not too protected by bunkers, so is possible a rolled shot may end up near the flag.
The par threes present some difficulty with the distance of two of them exceeding 165 metres to the middle, or the bunkers that defend the greens of the shorter par threes.
The par fives are quite varied, two of them challenge you to play a second shot to very protected greens, and the other two, one because of the distance and the other because of its design, really are holes where getting par can be considered a success.
The greatest difficulty of this course is definitely the proximity of the houses, and a shot beyond the walls that define the fairways is a lost ball. This course has an advantage, players who enjoy walking will be able to do so as it is practically a flat course. The same elevation is maintained in almost the entire course, with a slight rise only on holes 9 and 18.
The design is also very practical if we want to enjoy playing only 9 holes as both the tees of the 1st and 10th holes start near the Club House and the greens of the 9th and 18th also end near the Club House. The North course is the ideal compliment to the South course.
The Club is currently investing in modernizing its facilities, starting with the renovation of the irrigation system.
